Jewel has written a few new songs this week. She is also reviewing producers for her next album. Some demos have already been recorded. No word yet on the title of the new album. Hopefully a list of possible song titiles may pop up in the next few months. When more information is available, it will be posted here.

Jewel was in fact born in Payson, Utah. The sites posting St. George, Utah are incorrect. I have discussed the issue with several EDA's who have spoken with individuals at Jewel's office in the past. They have confirmed that the birth certificate says Payson, Utah. Since a birth certificate is a legally binding document, we are going to go with that. The name of the hospital is still up for some debate, but the main issue is the town that Jewel was born in. Also it may have been possible that the family might have lived in or visited St. George around the time of Jewel's birth, but that does not matter in terms of where she was born. For example, I was born in Flint, MI. I did not live in Flint though. I lived in a suburb called Clio, MI for the first month of my life. Of course it is known that Jewel's family moved to Achorage, AK. after the birth. Later Jewel moved with her father to Homer, AK. which is also the location we were told by Atlantic was Jewel's birthplace.

A rerun of SNL is on Comedy Central on the 7th of february featuring Jewel. Should be around 1:00PM EST.

It was taped at a recent Mountain Winery concert in Saratoga, Ca. New songs including "Does Anyone Believe in Love", "Rosy and Mic," "Stephenville," and " Violet Eyes." (as I recall, Violet Eyes was an older piece but my source claims it is a new one.) Steve Poltz is featured during portions of the concert. It is acoustic in nature.

I have finally gotten around to revising the Biography. The new version takes into account information not available at the time the previous version was written. In peticular, information about the early years and high school has been added/changed. I have also introduced sections for newer achievements including Spirt, A Night Without Armor, Chasing Down The Dawn and even some comments about Ty. I will be adding to these sections just as soon as my college schedule permits. Also note that the new guest book appears to be working well. Caryn was a big help with that. My next project will entail a rewrite on the lyrics portion of the site. I plan on adding some more recent lyrics and hopefully breaking them down into a more usable fashion. I am considering alternative file types for downloads as well. If anyone sees a need for Acrobat or Microsoft Reader files, let me know at Luke@FoolishGames.com

A DVD about Lilith Fair entitled "Lilith Fair: A Celebration of Women in Music" will be released on February 6th. The DVD will feature Near You Always and Morning Song along with some other Jewel tidbits.

I'm trying to confirm Jewel's birth place. The official Jewel site states that Jewel was born in Payson, Utah. The original Atlantic Records site said Homer, Ak. Mr BB posted to one of the Jewel mailing lists that Jewel was born in St. George, Utah. Time has told that Jewel was born in Utah.. now the real birth place needs to be found again... According to some second had reports, in the post Mr BB said the hospital was named Payson. My research has found that the hospital in St. George is currently called Dixie Regional Medial Center. The hospital in Payson, Utah is called Mountain View. In 1974, was there a hospital in St. George? If so, was it called Payson? What was the name of the hospital in Payson, Utah in 1974?
