Jewel will present a major new installation of her visual art practice at Salone Verde in Venice, Italy, timed with the Venice Biennale 2026.
Organized in association with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and curated by Joe Thompson, Matriclysm: An Archaeology of Connections Lost examines motherhood, feminine power, and what is lost when those histories are erased.
The exhibition includes new paintings, sculptures, tapestries, installations, and sound works created specifically for Venice. It is described as Jewel's largest presentation as a multi-disciplinary visual artist to date.
Matriclysm: An Archaeology of Connections Lost is scheduled to be on view from May 7 through November 22, 2026. Jewel is not expected to be present during most public viewing hours.
Jewel's thirteenth studio album, Freewheelin' Woman, was released via her own label, Words Matter Media. The album was co-produced by Jewel and Butch Walker and was developed with the intention of creating music that Jewel felt connected to and excited about, rather than making music to meet outside expectations.
Jewel represented Alaska in the inaugural American Song Contest. She performed "The Story" in the third episode and scored well in the public vote, but a lower jury ranking brought down her overall score and narrowly kept her from advancing to the semi-finals.
