Serve the Ego hits number 4

The remix single of "Serve The Ego," has continued moving up on
Billboard's "Hot Dance Music" charts from #10 (last week) to #4 this
week! The single is currently available as an Atlantic Records 12" vinyl
two-record set, as well as a maxi-CD single.

Jewel is experimenting for her next album...

Jewel has begun writing and experimenting over the last month for her next album. Oddly enough, she has taken a different path this time. Instead of a country western theme like This Way, Jewel has began experimenting with hip hop, R and B, soul, reggae, and jazz.

She started working at A touch of jazz studios in Philly with DJ Jazzy Jeff, P-Nut, and Pete Kuzma. Other artists who have worked at the studio include Jill Scott, Bilal, Darius Rucker (hootie and the blowfish anyone?), Paula Abdul,
Tatiani Ali and of course Will Smith.

All that is known at this point is that the next album will be very unique and much more electric than previous recordings.

As predicted, Jewel is trying to change her sound. This is the oddest news I've heard yet from the Jewel camp. I just hope we don't get the same sound as heard on her latest "single" sweet home alabama. I have not heard the song on the radio once. I'm hoping for more of a Fiona Apple style, but I'm probably out of luck. I think Jewel could pull that off. Tidal is a great album! To bad Fiona only got her crack at two albums before the record company cut her off.

website progress update

I'm planning on adding some real audio content to the site.. unfortunetely mac os 9.22 screwed up on my mac. I'm going to have to reinstall it to run the real encoder. I wish there was a native OS X encoder.

I've got about 40 pictures almost ready to upload. I have to finish making the thumbnails for them soon. Lucky that program is OS X native!

The message board is about 3/4 of the way done. Its certainly usable but some of the text is still in german. I regret picking the product now because the translation is taking so long. I like the features a great deal though.. I will stick with it at this point.

I've been playing around with the splash screen and new index pages to improve the look and make them xhtml compliant. I was disappointed in netscape 4 and opera rendering but I'm also tired of hacking things for old or small market share browsers. My code is compliant so its their problem. I may check the page with lynx again soon. I do that every once in a while. If a text browser, Netscape 7 and IE 5 Mac/ 6 win work then thats good enough for me. Besides, 90 percent of all my hits are Windows IE 5 or 6. And considering I use a Mac to view my own site... thats a big number. My website is my default homepage.
