Just wanted to drop everyone a quick note. I did not forget about the site, there hasn't been a lot of activity on the Jewel front. I am working on a new solution for the message board. I have about half of it written in C. I'm planning on posting some more pictures and multimedia files soon.
When Jewel and her band hit Massey Hall in Toronto last June 28th, CBC
radio
was on hand to record the show for future broadcast. Segments of that
concert
are now scheduled to broadcast during CBC Radio One's transmission of
"Definitely Not The Opera" this coming Saturday afternoon, November 23rd
at
1:00 p.m. EST. CBC Radio One is also available on ExpressVu and Starchoice
Canadian satellite TV service.
Those of you with tickets to Jewel's November 16th and 17th concerts at
the Xanadu Theatre in Atlantic City, NJ and D.A.R. Constitution Hall in
Washington, DC, respectively, will enjoy a double bill of Soul City Cafe
openers. In addition to Jason Mraz opening these shows, Soul City Cafe
artist Scooter Scudieri has also been added to both bills.
I've added 107 new pictures in the last 3 hours. I probably have more lying around my hard drive. Some of these pictures were formally on Planet Jewel, but I decided to post them since they were specifically copyrighted and the site is now down. In fact, if you try to go to planet jewel, you get a weird christian site. Personally, I think a nice this site no longer exists page would have been more appropriate. Its not nice to shove personal beliefs down people's throats. Hint, hint tanner! (btw I am christian, but my wife is not)
(11/6/02, 4 p.m. ET) -- Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas, Jewel, and
hip-hop production duo the Neptunes (a.k.a. N.E.R.D.), are among
the artists who will participate in a benefit for VH1's Save The Music
Foundation at the New York City club The Bottom Line on November 20.
The artists, along with R&B producer Jimmy Jam and others to be
announced, will appear as part of Songwriters In The Round--Generations
Volume 1. Each will perform two of their favorite own compositions as
well as a song they wish they had written. They will also discuss songwriting
methods with the evening's moderator, legendary Elton John collaborator
Bernie Taupin.
However, contrary to previous information, country legend Willie Nelson is
not appearing at the event.
Songwriters In The Round is part of the annual New York fundraiser for the
Save The Music foundation, which aims to reestablish music education in
public schools across the United States. Tickets are $750 per person.
Matchbox Twenty's Thomas, for one, has thrown his support for the Save
The Music in the past. In 2001 he appeared at a public school in Buffalo,
New York with Senator Hillary Clinton to celebrate the successful restoration
of music curriculum in that city's school district.
I have about 100 pictures to upload along with many real player files. As usual, I'm very busy and haven't had time to do much with the site. I plan on taking a day to work on the site soon. I've also decided to change the message board. Many people have voiced concern over the german language sections. I haven't had time to get it translated so I will switch to a new product. In fact, it appears I will be writing a message board for my C programming class. Gee, wonder why I picked that project...
Last week, Jewel continued her writing and recording experimentation as
part of the early stages of preparation for her next album. Her latest
adventure included a few days of collaborative writing and demo recording
in San Diego with songwriter and producer Lester Mendez, well-known for
the success of his recent work with Santana, Shakira and Enrique Iglesias.
Once again, Jewel will be among the performers at STAR 100.7 FM's "Jingle
Ball" holiday concert which takes place on Friday, December 6th at COX
Arena in San Diego. Other performers include John Mayer, Goo Goo Dolls,
LeAnn Rimes and Def Leppard. Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 8th
at 10:00 am and will be available at all Ticketmaster locations,
Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 619-220-TIXS and at the COX Arena Box
Office. For more information about this event, go to:
