Jewel flashes Ty in front of a Camera (May 2003)

Pop singer Jewel 'fessed up Thursday during an interview with Mark & Mercedes, morning jocks at KMXB-FM, 94.1.

After a breakup earlier this year, Jewel and rodeo king Ty Murray are back together. But that's not the big news.

Seems they got a bit frisky after her recent appearance on MTV's "Total Request Live" in New York. While inside a photo booth at MTV headquarters, Jewel flashed for the camera as Murray joined the horseplay by getting up close and personal.

They didn't realize an MTV video camera in the booth recorded their bosom-buddies pose for posterity.

"What can I say? We're young and in love -- and stupid," Jewel said.

iTunes for Windows released

Windows users can now get Apple's iTunes product for free. It is the best mp3/aac player/organized ever. I've been using it for several years on my Mac.

The Windows version appears to have all the features of the Mac version including the music store, cd burning, play lists, the superior organization features, dynamic play lists, visualizations, and more.

You can buy most of Jewel's songs for 99 cents a piece on there (this way is not in the music store last i checked). 0304, Joy, Spirit and POY are though. They usually release the Jewel singles early on the apple store as well.

Only problem with iTunes for windows is that it requires Windows XP or Windows 2000 (NOT Win ME).

I successfully streamed audio tracks from my iMac and my wife's PowerMac on my PC using the sharing features. That means rendevous was ported. (i have two desktops so thats why i only have an iMac)

Why spammers are stupid

I received an email serveral days ago claiming that I hacked a spammers server. He used very bad language accusing me of everything under the sun and stated that he added me to spam lists.

I'd like to point out a few things.

1. I did not hack anyone

2. He was not hacked, but rather his website was defaced. Also he claimed I turned him into his ISP. His website probably advertised his "product" and he got caught.

3. Someone could have spoofed my ip address or domain name in his logs when they attacked him. Contrary to popular belief, it IS very possible to impersonate someone on the Internet. Real hackers and crackers do it all the time. For example, a program called nmap will allow you to scan someone's computer and it reports someone else's ip address.

4. Adding me to spamming lists will generate more mail traffic, but I do have serveral layers of spam protection including sendmail milters, spam assasign, apple mail's junk feature, and other techniques. Overall it won't do a whole lot.

5. Today in my logs I found someone trying to login to my mail server with webmaster. I don't know what's worse.. someone dumb enough to try that or the implication that i would create a user called webmaster?

6. A study a few years ago showed that the average spammer was a high school dropout. Spammers don't have a lot of education, and many actually believe what they sell is legal. Many spammers even response to spam. Some even publish their mailing addresses on the Internet.

7. He claimed he had to feed his family. How about getting a job at mcdonalds or as a janitor at the local grocery store? Thats what he is probably qualified for, and its HONEST work. Feeding a family is not a valid reason to slow down the Internet and make it more expensive for EVERYONE.

8. I am considering getting more active in the fight against spam. These idiots don't deserve the Internet. Everyone report spammers when possible. ISPs can determine if spammers are working through there servers or not if they get reports. Most good ISPs will check it out right away. (I know, i used to work at one)
