Sorry about the site downtime for the last few hours. The mysql upgrade did not go as planned. The protocol was changed. I had to recompile php and find a new java jdbc driver to get it working.
Things seem a bit slow, but I'll work on tuning the new version.
I'm going to do several software upgrades today on the webserver. The database engine and webserver need updating.

Elton John: One of them is Jason Mraz's Waiting For My Rocket To Come [elektra]. This guy is going to be the John Mayer of the year. It's a really strong album-great songs that are beautifully sung, great musicianship. It's been in my C.D. Player nonstop, as has the new album by Jewel, 0304 [Atlantic]. The records pop-oriented sound is a complete change of direction for Jewel, but she's taken a big risk and it suits her. Her record is going to be around for a long time.
Many people have been e-mailing me about a new commercial from Canon. They ask me two questions:
1. Is it Jewel?
2. What song is it?
Based on feedback from several people, I believe it is Jewel. I haven't personally seen the commercials. What product are they advertising? Digital cameras? Canon has all of their present and past advertising campaigns on their website (www.canon.com, click on US, then about canon then advertising).
I'd like to solve the second question, but need more info to dig in canon's site including the product advertised in the commercial. Based on the lyrics sent to me:

If it is indeed Jewel, I would guess its an altered subset of the song "This Way."

Jewel's single "2 Become 1" has hit the Radio and Record HOT AC Chart which is the Pop chart. Its been on for 2 weeks. Last week at #40 and this week at #38... Its got 183 radio plays from the RR Stations...Next week it will prob debut on the ARC Weekly Top 40! We should all go and buy the single and request the song on radio
I just finished my last final yesterday for the semester. I'm planning on finishing the new site design during break from WMU. My only snag is getting used to my new iBook G4. I need to order a memory upgrade for it to run Dreamweaver as it requires 256mb ram.

I replaced a G3 iMac DV 400 with 512mb ram and an 80 gig hdd. The iMac is for sale. 400 dollars plus shipping. The hard drive was put in about 2 months ago.. its a Seagate Barricuda ATA 100. I have all the original restore disks for the system. It shipped with Mac OS 9.0.4, but I've since upgraded it to Mac OS 10.3 Panther. I can format it and put almost any OS version between those two on it. It still has the original Apple Pro Keyboard and mouse. I purchased the system around August 2000. It has a built-in 24x cd-rom, 2 firewire ports, 2 usb ports, 56k modem (v90), 10/100 ethernet, 2 headphone jacks, an audio input, built-in mic. This model can be upgraded with an Airport card, but I haven't bothered. It also has a vga mirror port so you can hook up a second monitor for presentations and so forth. The video card is an ATI RAGE 128 PRO 8mb.
I've used the firewire ports for an external burner (not included). The system also came with a mini firewire cable for video cameras.. i can include that too. Its dark blue.
