News

A Busy Month

Jewel announced her new video for What's Simple is 1 from Spirit. She appeared on MTV tonight (Nov. 5). She also talked about her new Holiday Album briefly and her movie. The new video featured jewel in 1800s attire (to go along with the movie). The song is featured in the move as well. I noticed a very unusual tone from the MTV DJ. about Jewel's appearance. He seemed to be mocking her in a way, although the audience did not seem to notice. Jewel looked rather sad and possibly embarrassed. More information as soon as its available.

Album Released

Jewel releases Joy: A Holiday Collection on the Atlantic label. Jewel's mother, Lenedra Carroll, also appears on the album doing some backup vocals. Face of love appears on the album, originally que'd for the 1996 "Romeo and Juliet" soundtrack. The album also takes advantage of the Hyper CD technology with video from a "Gloria" recording session.

100,000 hits and more

FG finally hit the 100,000+ on my counter this month. Most likely this number was reached previously, but was not logged as fast counter has been down a lot lately. I am still working on the new design for this site. The design will be very simple compared to the current look with "less flashy" color scheme. I plan on implementing some newer web technologies such as CSS 2.0, HTML 4.01 (or XHTML 1.0), XML 1.0 and possibly a new FG Database (assuming my plans to switch to NT work out.) With the new database, I will be able to offer better search strings and quicker updates. CSS allows me to try some new layout ideas I've had for a few years. Browser compatibility should improve (although I have most of the Macintosh bugs worked out and Linux works good with Netscape and Lynx). Hot Java is kinda iffy ;) Time just seems to run out for me.

POY

What's Simple is 1

Jewel: A Life Uncommon

Current situation

I am currently working on this website. I finally have some time after several months to work on it. (Promotions tend to me more work. Take it from me!) I've been trying to fix broken links and do general maintenance. I may start updating content again. More information when it comes available. I'm also looking at a new "less cluttered" format. You never know... Oh and Windows NT® Server is a pain in the butt, but its very interesting. (This site is running on RedHat 5.2, and apache.)

Jewel Web Week

JewelWebWeek.com is a special website to celebrate Jewel's music, etc. This special event takes place in May. I have been participating in the effort by providing several services including web design, web hosting and purchasing the domain name. More information will be posted as soon as it is available.

Birthdays, Programming and more

First I'd like to say Happy Birthday to Jewel this month. Second I'd like to say the same to my Fiancée's mother, Di. (Ok Happy b-day to myself too. lol) Believe it or not I am actually working on the Jewel Program still, I've had a few setbacks (like I have to learn C++). My fiancée has volunteered to help me with it. (She's already had it in college). Computer nerds in love.. scary thought eh? Yes I know this isn't really Jewel news, but it sort of is... I'm to lazy to scroll down in this document to fix it. Next revision of this site will be done in FrontPage (again). I'd rather hand code it but I just don't have the time anymore. Microsoft products will have to do for now.
