Jewel's unedited service was relaunched this week. E-mail notifications were sent out to former subscribers and others who had submitted/registered for jeweljk.com previously.
A new domain name was created for unedited subscriptions. jewelunedited.com (going from memory!)
Jewel's official site relaunched. Unedited is not active, but a post on the site indicates it should be live again this month. I can't wait!

I've managed to move the news articles and get a mysql/php interface to the news articles working. I actually used some old code from about two years ago to accomplish this task so quickly.
I'm looking into either using a content management system or writing some custom apps in WebObjects for the site.
Also, the site is a copy from early last year and so there are quite a few things missing like pictures, a recent bio, old links, etc. I plan on migrating the changes and uploading soon. Please report broken links, downloads, etc as i haven't gotten a chance to look at that yet.
Also, the site is back on a high speed internet connect. It has been hosted on a windows server via an aDSL line (256kb) since april 2004. I can pull 300kb/s from the server on my cable modem at home.
SoulCityCafe.com was closed down and is up for sale. Jeweljk.com is also not working and I was informed via email that another web design company will be taking over the site. This will be at least the 4th time the jeweljk.com property has changed webdesign/webhosting firms since its been on the Internet.
Jewel's first cousin once removed is actress Q'orianka Kilcher, who is best known for playing Pocahontas in The New World.
My free windows hosting at work has finally "expired." I've got a new unix server that I will move the site too, but the news and other information may disable for a time. I'm trying to get a new windows web server.

Atlantic Records is offering alerts about Jewel and other artists through their website. You can sign up for text alerts. I just signed up with my T-mobile phone. It appears to be working ok.

MTV VMA Rock DVDI was browsing in MVC today when I was surprised to see Jewel featured amongst the artists in the "MTV Video Music Awards - Rock" compilation DVD. Jewel is singing Angel Standing By solo acoustic from the 1997 VMA awards show. The DVD was released in the UK last month and in the US last year.
