I am planning on working on this site a little this month. I have two other projects pending right now that I need to get going. One of them is interesting to some of you. I am working on a Journal website similar to LiveJournal or DeadJournal. It is not a LiveJournal clone though.. I did start with the LJ code, but decided against it for several reasons. Basically I found LJ to be very SLOW. It uses mod perl and a stupid style engine called BML. Very slow. I plan on using Java.
MTV2 recently conducted a viewer poll to determine the "22 Greatest
Voices of All Time" and Jewel was among the winning voices. Now they would
like invite a few Jewel fans between the age of 18-30 to come in to be
interviewed and some of these interviews will be aired on MTV2. If you are
in the general New York City area and would be interested in this, please
read on or pass this information along to any friends who might enjoy
participating.

We want to film a few Jewel fans telling us how her voice has shaped your
life, influenced you or inspired you in any way. We want to know! If your
answers are strong, you may be representing Jewel fans on MTV2.
Please answer the following list of questions and email your answers and
contact information to MTV.PRODUCTION.CASTING@MTVSTAFF.COM. In the subject
line put "JEWEL: Greatest Voices Reply." Please do this asap if you are
interested, as they are shooting footage now through February 4th.
1. Why do you consider Jewel one of the greatest voices?
2. How has Jewel personally touched/inspired/affected you?
3. What kind of memorabilia do you have, ie, photos, autographs, ticket
stubs, posters, CDs, etc, that show you are a huge fan and that your

your Jewel collection if you like.)
4. How many times have you seen Jewel live? For you, what was Jewel's
defining moment?

A few quick questions answered:
Several wrote in asking various questions about the Isaac Mizrahi show
that aired last night on The Oxygen Network. Although this was a "new"
Jewel appearance, in terms of it being broadcast, Jewel's segment was
actually taped last October 1st in NYC, during a photo shoot for "Self"
Magazine. This explains the slightly dated nature of the interview
conversation. In addition to playing a solo acoustic "Who Will Save Your
Soul" during her interview with Isaac, Jewel sang the Cole Porter song
"Too Darn Hot" during the photo shoot sequence.
In a related question, quite a few have asked about Jewel's "Self"
Magazine appearance in the January 2003 issue, which happened to be shot
at that same October 1st photo shoot. Apparently, some were unable to find
Jewel because there is an unrelated fold-out Jergens advertisement
proceeding her and these pages seem to be obscuring it. If you locate the
fold-out pages following page 28 and open those pages, you should find it.

I have fixed at least 20 links on the site. I am using the w3 link checker... its a great perl script. It will spider a site and report broken links. Anyone interested should check out www.w3.org and look for the link checker. (i knows a link exists to it at validator.w3.org)
The TV program "Livin' Large" will soon air their second Jewel related
segment focusing on Soul City Cafe. In most areas, this segment will air
this coming Saturday, 1/11 or Sunday 1/12. This is a syndicated show, so
it is on different networks all over the country. They each determine
their own scheduling, so check your local listings on the above dates for
time, channel and availability in your area.
Next Monday, January 13, Jewel and Ratchel Dretch (of Saturday Night Live
fame) will be guests on The Isaac Mizrahi Show. This program airs on the
Oxygen Network at 10:30 p.m. est.
This coming Saturday, January 11th, a ClearWater Project Benefit featuring
Jewel performing solo acoustic, will take place as part of Cub Women's
Expo in Minneapolis, MN. The concert will be held at the Convention Center
Auditorium and all proceeds, after expenses, will benefit HGH's ClearWater
