Jewel seemed a bit flawed at a recent concert. The singer’s behavior was so erratic when she appeared in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, that she had some in the crowd worried that she was having a nervous breakdown. “Witnesses said Jewel went on a tirade of insults from poking fun at fat people to others with no teeth,” according to Seacoastonline.com. “At one point, she asked the audience to yell requests and then told them to ‘shut the hell up.’ ” The singer also reportedly “told everyone to stop looking at her teeth and look at her breasts.”

Yesterday the mail server went down due to an attack on the mail software and a memory leak in the av scanner. I fixed that today.

The site should run much faster now as I replaced a 3com hub with a switch today. There were many collisions due to the poor network layout. I get free hosting at work, but the down side is that its a small business and they don't have a lot of resources.

The site seems peppy today now that the mail server has caught up.

Today is Jewel's birthday. As always, contributions to her favorite charities are great gifts. Technically she is not involved with clearwater directly anymore, but its still a nice organization.

Jewel news has been slim the last week or two. Most postings are reminders for upcoming ticket sales, etc.

I'm working on a new authentication system for fg and justjournal.com. I have some compatibility issues with existing justjournal database entries i am sorting out. Essentially passwords are stored in a hashed form and i must duplicate mysql hashing in microsoft sql server using .NET for conversion. (boring right?)

If i get it working, i can start working on components for both sites. On fg, this means a kewl message board and guest book that support HTML/XHTML entries, and rich text input.

Linear algebra is really killing me and I haven't had as much time as planned. (i'm taking a summer course at WMU)

Anyone with jewel news, please pass it along! I plan on adding an automated system to let site visitors enter news stories.
