You may have read a few weeks ago that Jewel was recording
tracks for her new album at the Sunset Sound recording studio in
Hollywood. I've just discovered some info about the band she was
working with. Apparently amongst the band were keyboardist Spooner
Oldham (Dylan, Neil Young) who also played on some of the Pieces
Of You tracks, Jim Keltner (John Lennon, Pink Floyd) on drums and
Shane Theriot (Neville Brothers) on guitar. You can see a couple of
pics of Jewel with the band at...

I recently subscribed to a secondary dns service. Now foolishgames.com has 6 dns servers available to it all over the world. When you type in a domain name like foolishgames.com or say google.com, your computer must convert the name into an ip address. Its similar to a phone number. Every person on the internet has one as well as every server. After the dns query is sent, your computer gets an answer and then can connect to the website server to fetch the page.

My site is hosted on a dsl line and is quite slow. DNS traffic occurs quite often not only for web page hits, but also everytime i get sent an email, etc. This will take a little load of the dsl line and help people in other countries find the site.

Yesterday, someone accidently flipped off the switch in the fuse box for the "server" room. The mail and web servers were down since sometime yesterday afternoon until today. The webserver did not come back up automatically. I need to fix that :)

This site is hosted at a small business. The problem is that they often turn off the lights by using the fuse box. Oops!

Most of the changes this week were additions or software corrections. I did become an Apple iTunes Affiliate this week. Sometime next week, I'll add links to albums, etc. Feel free to check out the iTunes link at the bottom of the "index" page of this site.

Tonight I wrote some new guest book code. You can now post entries in the guest book. If you use IE 5.5 or higher, then you can style the entries and add emoticons.

This code was the first step toward a new Message Board. :)

I should use it for these news articles too!
