The Best of Sixpence None The Richer

Sixpence None The Richer

a review by Lucas Holt (10/2004)

I recently received a copy of "The best of Sixpence None the Richer" on CD.  The album contains 18 tracks.  Although I am not a huge fan, I found several familiar favorites including "Kiss me" and "There she goes."  Also included are three new songs, "Loser like me", "Us" and "Too Far Gone."

Overall, the album was quite good.  I enjoyed two of the new tracks "Loser Like Me" and "Too Far Gone."  Loser like me has a nice polished sound similar to kiss me or several tracks on Jewel's "Spirit" album.  Too far gone reminds me of Fiona Apple's tidal album a great deal.  I've listened to it several times tonight.  In addition to the english release of Kiss Me, the album also includes the japanese import single.  I almost like that better than the english version.  One track on the album, "Dancing Queen" will not end up on my playlist.  Its a good cover, but frankly I've never been a big abba fan.

The recording and sound quality on the album is excellent.

If you like sixpence, or any of the singles definetely pick up the album.  If you are unsure, listen to a friends copy or check out the album's website.  The CD hit stores October 26th.  The album does not appear to be on iTunes yet.
